Do I Have The Right To Have The Coronation Bank Holiday Off With Pay?

This year is a very special year, for on Sat May 6th  the Coronation of King Charles III takes place in Westminster Abbey  in front of honoured guests from around the world.  The actual Coronation is on Saturday, May 6th and of course will be televised. As the event falls on a weekend, the Bank holiday itself will be on Monday May 8th.

So, do you have the right to the Bank holiday as a paid day off?

The answer is no. Contrary to what some believe, you do NOT have the right to get paid leave on Bank or Public Holidays.  Your employer can choose to include them as part of your statutory annual leave. All your entitlements should be specified in your contract of employment.
