Explaining Scarcity of Staff Seeking Work?
It’s an issue that has not helped employers of domestic staff who are seeking new employees… where are all the applicants?
A recent survey by the Office For National Statistics (ONS) may have helped some light on the issue. It was widely anticipated that following the ending of furlough, many staff would seek fresh pastures.
However, the survey showed that;
65% of those furloughed returned to work on the same hours
6% increased their hours
16% reduced their hours
3% were made redundant
3% left their role voluntarily
7% unaccounted for.
It may well take longer than expected for staff movements and recruitment to return to the pre-Covid-19 normality.
