Holiday Pay Calculations Change And Change Again.
If you have just become accustomed to calculating holiday pay for some staff who are “part year” or irregular hours, following a Supreme Court ruling last year….things are probably about to change again!
Staff in these categories are often used for peak work times, outdoor work and at functions.
Following the ruling, a disparity became apparent between the two different staff groups with the former potentially being entitled to proportionately more pay and leave than the latter.
The government has since undertaken a consultation on proposed further changes to ensure: “holiday pay and entitlement received by workers is proportionate to the time they spend working” as expressed by the government. If implemented as proposed, this would effectively reverse the effects of the Supreme Court decision. The consultation ended at the end of last month, March 2023.
