If Making An Employee Redundant Is On The Horizon
With the current employment situation in a state of flux post pandemix restrictions, for many emoloyers of domestic staff, the issue of making an empployee redundant maybe on the horizon. It is important therefore that you as an employer are aware of changes to Statutory Redundancy pay which come into effect on April 6th.
From that date, how the pay is calculated changes:
The cap on the value of a week’s pay, which is used to calculate Statutory Redundancy Pay for employees earning above that amount, will increase to £571 per week (from £544) .
The overall maximum Statutory Redundancy Pay, based on 20 years’ service (only the most recent 20 years of service count for redundancy pay purposes), increases to £17,130 (from £16,320).
