It’s Not Long Before London’s Skies Light Up
WHY? Because November 5th is Guy Fawkes night and that means fireworks!
So where can you see the best displays? The Battersea Park Fireworks, and the Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival are considered top of the line. Don’t forget to take cash for tickets where necessary and appropriate clothing. There will be food and drinks to keep you warm.
There are several other displays, some may be more convenient depending upon where you live. Take your pick from Wimbledon Park Fireworks Bonfire Night, Morden Park, Chiswick Park Fireworks Extravaganza or Kempton Park Racecourse Fireworks.
London always hosts the largest fireworks displays as historically it is here that the event occurred. It marks the moment when Guy Fawkes, with others, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James I in the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605.
It is still customary today for the cellars in the Houses of Parliament to be searched by the Yeoman of the Guard before each State Opening of Parliament.
