Safety Tips On How To Use And Store Chemicals/Cleaning Materials.
Many chemicals used within a domestic environment are potentially dangerous if not used and stored properly.
We are sure that most of you know this, but it doesn’t hurt to refresh your memory, so below are a few tips on where and how such items should be stored.
- All chemicals and cleaning materials should be kept out of reach of children, ideally in a locked cupboard with the key safely out of reach. Simple, yes, but a good rule.
- Keep all cleaning materials in containers which are labelled correctly with the contents along with any first aid treatment necessary. Any chemicals not labelled correctly should not be used.
- Use protective gloves when you are using any cleaning materials and ensure that there is a First Aid box with eye wash etc. and that you know where it is.
- Remember to check with your employer before you use strong cleaning materials which may be inappropriate on a safety basis and potentially damaging to items in the home.
