Something totally different
There are Christmas shows for all age groups in London for adults to children, but this year, why not break the pattern and try something totally different….ice skating? It’s a classic Christmas period activity and one which holds no relationship to any race or religion.

Firstly the ice skating rink in the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, UK’s largest open-air ice rink. Trade in your shoes for skates and enjoy this favourite attraction. Set under a canopy of twinkly lights and around the charming Victorian bandstand in Hyde Park, you can hit the ice from 10:00am to 10:00pm daily.
Each ice skating session will last 45 minutes
Ensure you arrive 20 minutes before your booked session so you have time to get your skates on.
Somerset House
Without a doubt, Somerset House´s ice skating rink is an annual favourite for those in the know. The Christmas atmosphere created inside Somerset House Square with it’s Christmas tree and the sounds of carols playing is memorable.…and a major benefit is that this venue is not so heavily promoted in travel guides.
There are two new additions to London’s skating facilities this year.
Kensington Palace Gardens
For the first time there will be an ice skating rink this Christmas in Kensington Palace’s Gardens, and will be open from 30th November to 7th January.
The second new entry into the ice skating calendar is Battersea Power Station.
Located in the re-developed Battersea Power Station, next to the Thames, it holds a lot of promise as, in addition to the skating rink, there will be food stalls and some fairground attractions. Best to buy your tickets online.
