The Government’s Consultation On Shared Parental Leave May Affect Employers of Domestic/Household Staff
The government is poised to consider extending leave rights for family members of new mothers. The outcome may well impact on leave rights for those employed as domestic/household staff.
A consultation is to be launched on the introduction of shared grandparental leave. The leave would allow a mother to share her leave with one nominated working grandparent.
If introduced it would take effect from 2018. At present shared parental leave is limited to the mother and her partner.
No date has yet been announced for the consultation and we will keep you up-to-date as news is released.
