There are changes in the bank holidays for both December and for 2022
Friday 25th December – Christmas Day
Monday 28th December – Boxing Day
The big change in Christmas holidays this year is that they effectively become a long four day weekend break. The reason is that when Christmas falls on a Friday, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes the bank holiday. So, this year the Boxing Day bank holiday will be moved from Saturday 26th December to Monday 28th December 2021
Additionally there is an extra Bank Holiday in 2022 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
To celebrate the Queen’s 70th anniversary as monarch, the Spring Bank Holiday 2022 (originally on Monday May 30) will be moved to Thursday June 2 and an additional bank holiday will be held on Friday June 3.
