To Pay Or Not To Pay? That Is The Question
If you decide not to pay your domestic/household staff a pay rise, are you in the majority or the minority?
It helps when making such decisions to be aware of national pay trends even if it is to be able to say, “not at present ” and know it’s the norm.
According to research carried out by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, out of the 2000 employers questioned, only 27 % – across all sectors- said they were ready and willing to pay more to either retain staff or recruit new staff.
This is seemingly at odds with the fact that almost half of those questioned said they were having difficulty filling vacancies. Two-thirds questioned also said they expected the staff shortages to be the status quo for the next six months.
