Why Does The Date For Easter Change Every Year?
It’s an interesting question, with the answer going back thousands of years.
Unlike other Christian holidays such as Christmas, which has a fixed date every year, Easter changes dates. This is because the date on which Easter falls depends on the lunar cycle. Easter Sunday always falls after the first full moon following the Spring equinox. As this doesn’t correspond with an exact date each year, the date of Easter changes. This year it falls on March 31st but in 2025 it will fall on Sunday, April 20.
