25 Jan “Return to work” employers tell staff
Employers can now tell staff to return to work except for those with medical exemptions.
This follows the government’s announcement that their Plan B measures ended from 27th January 2022.
Face coverings will no longer be mandatory in indoor venues, and organisations will be able to choose whether to require NHS COVID-19 Passes.
Plan B came into effect in December following the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
The possible reasons for exemptions are limited. Examples that might be reasons for a medical exemption and include: people with learning disabilities, autism or a combination of impairments which mean that vaccination and testing result in distress.
Additionally, staff who suffer with severe allergies to all currently available vaccines and those who have had an adverse reaction to the first dose (for example, myocarditis).
